Abstract
This article approaches the current topic of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine,
namely the Russian invasion to Ukraine, and try to comprehend its meaning through the tools
of the Psychoanalytic theory, specifically the concepts of drive and pleasure developed by
Freud and the perspective of Jacques Lacan. Having in account that from its origins to today,
Psychoanalysis included in its scope political and social matters, we propose to shed light
into the way it understands war violence from taking in consideration some fragments of
epistolary exchange between S. Freud and A. Einstein that gave origin to the text: “Why
war?” (1933 [1932]), in which Freud expose its thought on two questions that Einstein raise
about war: Is there any way to avoid it? and how to explain the human appetite for destruction
that is revealed in it? Thus, tackle the problem of the destructive tendencies of the human
being with the existing tensions between death drive and life drive (Eros), and in which
consist these drives to know them through different manifestations in life.

Resumen
El presente articulo aborda el tema del actual conflicto bélico entre Rusia y Ucrania, es decir
la invasión rusa a Ucrania, e intenta comprender su sentido mediante el andamiaje de la
Teoría Psicoanalítica, específicamente las conceptualizaciones sobre las pulsiones y el goce,
desarrolladas por Freud y la posterior revisión de Jacques Lacan. Teniendo en cuenta que
desde sus inicios y hasta hoy, el Psicoanálisis incluyó entre sus preocupaciones lo social y lo
político, nos proponemos explicitar el modo en que el mismo entiende a la violencia de guerra
a partir de tomar en consideración algunos fragmentos del intercambio epistolar entre S.
Freud y A. Einstein que dio origen al texto: “¿Por qué la guerra?” (1933 [1932]), en donde
Freud expone su pensamiento respecto de dos preguntas que le plantea Einstein acerca de la
guerra: ¿Hay algún camino para evitarla? y ¿Cómo se explica el apetito humano por la
destrucción que en ella queda al descubierto?, así aborda el problema de las tendencias
destructivas del ser humano con la tensión existente entre las pulsiones de muerte y las
pulsiones de vida (Eros), y en qué consisten dichas pulsiones para conocerlas a través de sus
distintas manifestaciones en la vida anímica.
